B.R.A.I.N Conference took place at the Tower Hotel in London, from 13-16 December 2021, as a hybrid event.

Over 3500 people joined the conference, both online and in-person, with delegates from all four corners of the globe learning about the latest developments in interventional neuroradiology.

As a result of the hugely successful B.R.A.I.N Conference, the course directors were able to donate some of the proceeds generated through registrations to a very worthy cause.

Brain Tumour Research are building a network of experts in sustainable research at dedicated centres of excellence whilst influencing the government and larger cancer charities to invest more nationally. To help them in its mission, B.R.A.I.N Conference donated £5,480 to the charity. The monies fund two days of life-saving research at one of the charity’s centres of excellence.

B.R.A.I.N Conference director and founder Dr Paul Bhogal did the honours by handing over a cheque to Carol Robertson, national events manager from the Brain Tumour Research Charity, on the 24 March, 2022, at the Royal London Hospital.

Dr Bhogal commented:

Glioblastoma is hideous disease that often strikes people down in the prime of their life. The aggressive nature of this cancer means that a diagnosis of glioblastoma is essentially a death sentence.

Despite the huge leaps made in cancers elsewhere in the body there has not been a comparative improvement for patients with a glioblastoma.

It is my belief that the interventional neuroradiology community will play a critical role in beating this disease and with this in mind I am honoured to support the much-needed research being supported by the Brain Tumour Research Charity.”

Brain tumours are indiscriminate; they can affect anyone at any age. What’s more, they kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer, yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease. We know this donation will help to build more awareness of the charity as well as fund research into improving the lives of those affected.

Charlie Allsebrook, community development manager for Brain Tumour Research, said:

We’re very grateful for this generous donation to help us continue funding vital research into brain tumours.

Too many people’s lives are being devastated by this cruel disease and we are determined to change that, but it will only be possible by continued support of and investment in research.”

B.R.A.I.N Conference will take place in 2022 from 5-8 December at the Leonardo Royal Hotel St Paul’s.
