BISMICS 2021 (British & Irish Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery) took place from December 6-7, 2021, at The Tower Hotel, London.

In the lead-up to BISMICS 2021, Millbrook Medical Conferences facilitated a competition, inviting delegates to submit abstracts/a poster presentation of their most interesting cardiothoracic minimally invasive surgery case.
Shortlisted candidates were given the opportunity to present their poster on the main stage, followed by audience questions and discussion. Members of the audience scored the poster presentations and after much deliberation, Momna Raja of Brighton and Sussex University Hospital was named as the winner during the conference dinner.
Momna’s prize included a fully-funded trip to ISMICS 2022, an annual scientific meeting adeptly named and organised by the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery. ISMICS took place from June 16-18, 2022, in Warsaw, Poland.
Speaking of her win and ISMICS experience Momna Raja said:
“I was honoured to receive the first prize at BISMICS for my poster presentation at the annual meeting in London 2021. The prize meant that I was able to attend the annual meeting for ISMICS in Warsaw.
“This was an excellent opportunity for me to not only engage in meaningful discussions surrounding minimally invasive surgery but also network and receive career advice from academics and clinicians from across the world.
“I am ever so grateful to BISMICS for supporting me to attend and present my research at an international meeting. Thank you!”
BISMICS will return to the Hilton Manchester Deansgate Hotel, Manchester, from December 5-6, 2022.
